Poem for Joshua

I won’t live in a hall of mirrors

I’d rather see me through you

I’d rather look at the baby

animals and palm fronds fanning

the kiss of snowflakes in your

dark eyelashes, I want to reflect

my soul in our morning cup of

coffee, a tendril of smoke in the

shape of a heart, I want to look

like you, to love like you do, I

won’t live in a hall of mirrors, I

want to live in an exhibition of

you.
